Silver Bmx
Silver Bmx
Olympics; BMX cycling?
Who won the gold, silver, & bronze medals? I want the name & the country they’re playing for.
Also, can someone explain BMX cycling to me? Like, what are the rules or what do they do? Do they race or do they do tricks for points?
Was there any controversy during the BMX cycling?
Who are the famous people in BMX cycling?
Is it divided, like is it a group or is it just individuals?
Anyone that can get me all the info will get best answer. =] <3
Gold – Maris Strombergs from Latvia. Also world number one.
Silver- Mike Day- USA.
Bronze- Donny Robinson- USA.
Its Bmx Racing. They start at a 3 story starting hill and they sit there
and wait for the random gate to go down and as soon as it does they
all bust out of there go 40 mph. Once they get to the bottom of the
hill thats when the jumps start. They jump, jumps that are 40ft apart
and pretty high off the groud. Theres different kinds of jumps as well.
Table tops, step ups, 40ft doubles, stuff like that. Theres also a
rhythm secion with a bunch of small rollers which are little almost
like jumps but way small and you just manul over them or pump.
You dont jump them theyre usually not big enough. So pretty much
they just have to bust out the gate going as fast as they can and jump
the jumps and do everything perfectly so they dont crash. The race
only last about 40 seconds. This sport is honestly probably the
hardest sport in the Olympics to be good at. These guys train
incredibly hard, everyday, all day, its their life. Also they dont
do tricks, theres no where near enough time for them to even think
about a trick, you miss one pedal in the race and there goes the top
spot and possibly the second and third as well. Its really fast paced.
These guys are good. Thats just pretty much to sum it up easy.
Its a lot harder that it seems, you just have to try it to figure that out.
They have motos first, and there are 8 riders per gate because thats
the most you can have. They have however many motos it takes to
get all the people to race. The top 4 people from each moto move on
to the semi’s. Top 4 from the semis move on to the mains. In the
Olympics theres only one main. At normal reaces they usually have
2 or 3 and have to keep taking top 4 untill they get down to only 8
people to make one main. Thats how that goes.
Well there wasnt really any controversy aside from the normal crashes
that always happen. There pretty unpreventable. Kyle Bennet from the
US got hurt the worst. Someone crashed in front of him and like I was
saying its so fast paced that you dont have time to stop or go around
them so he crashed into him. He pulled his shoulder out of place and
got all cut up. He still made it into the semis though because he
got 2nd and 4th in the two motos before so he still qualifed. He went
to the semis and didnt end up makin it to the mains. He just
decided the day of the semis if he was going to race or not because
his shoulder was that bad. He decided to race though. He said that
everytime he pushed or pulled which you do a lot of during the race that
it felt like a knife was getting stabbed into his arm. So he didnt end
up qualifying. He got 5th in one because he got held up by a crash in
front of him, the second one he was in 4th the whole time but someone
passes him in the last straight, then in the last one he got 5th because
of be held up by another crash, so he didnt qualify for the mains. If
he wouldnt have got hurt he deffinately would have got the gold or
silver. Hes and incredible rider. He was world number 1, 3 years in
a row. The races are so unpredictable and anything can happen
to anyone. Unfortunately it happend to one of the best riders on
the worst day for it to happen.
There arent really any famous people, it just became an Olympic
sport this year. Now, since the Olympics are over its probably going
to get huge and they will get famous for sure. The three that went
from the US, Kyle Bennet, Mike Day, and Donny Robinson, are all
really famous if you know about BMX racing. If you dont know
what the sport even is then you probably wont know who they are.
Its individuals. Each person had to qualify to make it to the Olympics.
Kyle Bennet made it by placing first overall in all the UCI races, out
of everyone is the US. Mike Day did it by winning the time trials,
which were held and the track in Chula Vista, California. They
all had to go individually and go as fast as they can through the whole
track and the person with the best time at the end ( the person who
did it fastest) made it to the Olympics. Donny Robinson made it
by coaches pick. The Olympic coaches got to pick one person
who they wanted to go to the Olympics. So its all individual.
Its an amazing sport. My favorite sport in the whole world. lol
I love it. You should really look into, these guys who do this
are really talented and it takes so much hardwork and dedication
to be good at this sport. You really have to dedicate your life to
it, which all the Olympic racers have. =)
