Mtb Mountain
is it legal to mtb in the Smokey mountains? know of any good places in KY, NC, or WV?

plz tell me where are some good places to mtb for some challenging and/or picturesque rides in the states mentioned above. im going on vacation from MI. thanks

I really can’t say whether it’s legal to ride in the Smokey Mountains Nat’l Park itself, but I know that there are some nice places to ride in nearby western North Carolina.

The Tsali trails (near Bryson City) are buff and a little tame, but very pretty since they overlook Fontana Lake, while closer to Asheville (a little further east) the trails are more rugged.

(I’ve been to Tsali. I don’t know much about Asheville from personal experience, but friends brought back good reports about a park called DuPont.)

Meanwhile, in West Virginia you could check out places like the Elk River Touring Center near Slatyfork and (if you’re into downhilling) the nearby Snowshoe ski resort. These might be out of the way for you, but I just got back from a great vacation there.
