Gear Cog

Gear Cog
on shimano rapid rise rear derailler ,when shifting to harder gear smaller cog it hesitates shifting.?

which way do I turn barrel adjustment on reverse spring derailler and how much would I turn. also which cog should it be on in the rear before I turn barrel adjust. should it be on front Chain Ring?

1) Shift the bike to low (biggest cog).

2) Check the cable tension. There should be NO slack and almost NO tension.

3) If there is SLACK, loosen the cable anchor bolt, pull the excess cable through, and retighten the anchor bolt. Use the barrel adjuster to remove any remaining slack.

4) If there is TENSION, back off the barrel adjuster until the tension disappears or loosen the cable anchor bolt, allow the cable to relax, then retighten the anchor bolt. Use the barrel adjuster to finish the adjustment.

It really doesn’t matter which chainring it is on but if there is a preference then it should be on the small or center. If this procedure doesn’t do it then you need professional help.
