What tampon brands do NOT expand?
I tried a tampax pearl first, and it expanded so much that it got stuck in me, and hurt really bad when I had to force it out. I know kotex does not expand, so they dont hurt me, but they I can’t find lite sizes by them, whats a small tampon that doesn’t expand?
I left it in for 10 hours… it was plenty soaked. But I also used a super and I am pretty small.
ALL commercial and organic tampons expand, that is how they work, if you want to use tampons that do not expand you’d have to use soft tampons like Gynotex http://www.gynotex.com cloth tampons you make yourself or sponge tampons like Jade & Pearl http://www.jadeandpearl.com You may also want to try other options such as menstrual cups or softcups which do not expand and are easier to use, as well as this they are much safer, cleaner, greener, cheaper, more convenient, more reliable and more comfortable than tampons – Ladycup in particular would be useful as they are smaller and more flexible than other menstrual cup brands.
The reason it hurt when you tried to force it out is just that vagina naturally stretches as it is made to give birth to a baby so a tampon is nothing, but if you were tensing which is common if worried about a tampon getting stuck, then your vaginal muscles would have tensed too thus making it difficult and painful to remove. Remember too that tampons absorb not just menstrual flow but also vaginal fluids vital for keeping the walls of the vagina moist and protected, thus whenever you use a tampon it cause irritation, splitting and ulceration so when removed the friction can make the damage worse or feel painful when normally you’d not feel pain from the damage. Commercial tampons such as Tampax are made from synthetics which cause even more damage and friction, they also contain additives, chemicals and bleach which can irritate your vagina if allergic or sensitive to them, thus making it swell or feel painful, particularly when you remove the tampon. Simple fact is all commercial or organic tampons will expand, but that really shouldn’t be a problem, if it is then it might be worth talking to your doctor as it may be a sign of a problem if your vagina cannot naturally accommodate something as small as a tampon.
As for leaving it in for 10 hours, this should never happen, tampons need to be changed at least every 4-6 hours because of their risk to vaginal health, the longer you leave a tampon in the longer bacteria have to multiply within the tampon inside your vagina so the more damage they can do and the higher the risk of vaginal infection and TSS. For each 1g increase in absorbency TSS risk increases by 37% use the lowest possible absorbency, changing absorbency as flow changes, super may not have been best for your flow at the time and certainly leaving a tampon in that long you may very well have a vaginal infection.
