Dura Ace

Dura Ace
Sram Force 2010 or Shimano Dura-Ace 7800?

I am in a dilemma! I can’t choose. Can someone please help me? SRAM Force is better looking and is lighter, but is Dura-Ace 7800 better?

I am primarily going for the best of the two. If someone who has tried both, would compare them, that would nice!

Thank you

It’s difficult to compare SRAM Force to Dura-Ace because because Dura-Ace is a top of the line product while Force is more comparable to Shimano Ultegra. For that reason, if these are the only two options you are considering, Dura-Ace is the best option by far.

In my experience, the build quality and longevity you get with Dura-Ace simply isn’t matched by other components unless you’re also comparing it to other top of the line components (i.e. Campagnolo Record or Sram Red). I have a fifteen-year old bike with Dura-Ace I still ride occasionally, and the components work better than my much newer bike with Ultegra.

Between Force and Dura-Ace, go top of the line with Dura-Ace. It’s likely to last longer, work better, and retain its value better (if future resale is a concern). If you’re looking to compare SRAM’s top of the line Red group to Dura-Ace, then I think it depends on price. You may be able to find 7800 less expensive than Red simply because 7800 is an older model now. Both are great products.
