What is the difference in a trailer brake acuator for disc brakes and one for drum brakes?
How do you know the right thing. We bought a second hand and do not know whether to get the disc brakes or drum brakes with it. Thank you.
I think you will find that the drum. there has been no improvement in the trailer brakes. have been the same for the past 70 years. any change would be an improvement.
How the four wheels brake discs best Corvette
In 1965 a new innovation was brought to the Corvette that will forever alter the way produce the car. Four-wheel disc brakes were added to the Corvette that year and the addition would not only be a welcome addition for this year, would eventually become the standard on all Corvettes that rolled off the assembly line.
Four disc brakes on the wheel in the Corvette means that the super car that seemed to be getting faster with each passing year could now afford to do so as it was today presented with a braking system that could brake and stop the car almost as fast as the car reached its top speed. Four disc brakes on the wheels where it first appears in many foreign nameplates and Chevrolet was a little reluctant to include the function in the Corvette. Maybe it was because of the added cost or maybe just did not want to comply, but when they finally did recognize his will and included the improved braking system, the Corvette were notable improvements almost immediately.
In this exceptional year Chevy disc brakes yet allowed for the old style drum brakes to be available and that really helped the testers to show how the four-wheel disc braking system was superior in all respects. Braking from 100 mph to a complete stop was able to carry out no deterioration in braking efficiency. With drum brakes would heat buildup cause the brakes to lose some braking power when fully implemented, and although there was no accumulation of heat in the brake disc and the disc brakes were capable disperse the heat without affected performance.
Even leaves that were sudden in nature have been found to be more effective and faster with four-wheel-disc braking system . Finally, the Sting Ray had it all in one package. Power, control and advanced braking now.
Today it seems absolutely absurd to think of any sports car that comes with nothing less than the disc brakes on all four corners, especially a Corvette. As the years pass, there will always be new innovations and features that help to defend our Corvette as one of the truly great among sports cars. However, if it were not for the implementation of the system of four-wheel disc brakes Corvette in 1965, then many of the startling innovations in the speed that the Vette has enjoyed in recent years have never happened. Ironically, what the Corvette indirectly helped stop that is able to go faster.
