Road bike and carbon fork upgrade?
So my starter road bike is a Trek 1000 (manufactured in 2000). I just graduated college so I can’t really afford to buy a new bike at the moment but am interested in possibly doing a carbon fork upgrade. I would like advice on sizing and whether or not it is worth the cost.
here are the bike’s base specs:

The bike has a quill type stem and a threaded fork, so it is probably 1″. Carbon forks in this size are getting hard to find, and since you don’t give the frame size, it is difficult to determine steerer length. You would probably need to change to a Threadless Headset, try to find a 1″ carbon fork, and maybe even new handlebars, unless you can find a threaded fork with the right length steer tube. I would suggest you leave the bike as it is, save up until you can afford a really nice new bike. In the meantime, your current bike is fine, changing the fork won’t make a big difference.
