Bar Stem
Bar Stem
does this makes your bike look lousy?
i ride a GT avalanche 2
there are stock parts which have GT logo on it.
parts like Handle Bar, stem, seatclamp
should i change to better brand to make my bike look better? they wont affect performance like hub, brakes, fork.
I have a Fuji Mountain Bike, and I modified it by changing the handlebars to Bmx Handlebars. The BMX handlebars have a GT sticker on them. I’ve had it this way for the past five years. Last week, I heard someone say to his friend, “That’s a GT”, and I corrected him and I said the bike is a Fuji with GT handlebars.
GT is a good brand. Although it’s unusual and a little annoying that they stick their logo on everything, like the handlebars.
No, don’t worry about the looks of the bike. You should only change parts when they wear out.
When I changed my handlebars from straight MTB bars to BMX bars, I had to change cables because the original weren’t long enough. I also had to put a new stem on it.
But I changed them so I can sit up higher and have better visibility.
I wouldn’t say the GT sticker on the handlebars makes it look lousy, I just wish it wasn’t there. I don’t think it can be removed without scratching the chrome.
I had to spend $50.00 on the stem because the BMX bars wouldn’t fit the Mtb Stem. The new stem is Haro and says “Made in USA”. That did impress someone who noticed it, but only one person noticed that, in five years.
No, don’t modify your bike for looks. Save the money for parts that wear out and need replacing.
